What if they held an election and nobody came? A Quinnipiac University poll released last week found that a whopping 77 percent of registered Democrats surveyed still did not know who they would vote for in their party’s primary. And of those who did express a preference almost as many named someone who was not on the ballot as picked an actual candidate.

Four percent of registered Democrats surveyed between Aug. 23 and 31 favored Ms. Rice, 3 percent picked Mr. Schneiderman and 1 percent each for Mr. Coffey and Mr. Brodsky—a total of 9 percent. No one polled named Mr. Dinallo. Meanwhile, 8 percent said they would vote for someone not in the running.
