A veteran federal and state prosecutor of health care and other frauds has been named as the new head of the civil frauds unit in the office of Southern District U.S. Attorney Preet S. Bharara.
Heidi A. Wendel is returning to the Southern District to head the six-person unit after serving in the office of Attorney General Andrew Cuomo since April 2007 as deputy attorney general and chief of the state’s Medicaid fraud control unit.
