Defense lawyer Peter Quijano gave an impassioned defense of Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani yesterday, telling a jury that his client was part of a “long parade of dupes” used by al-Qaida in the conspiracy to bomb two U.S. embassies in East Africa in 1998.

“Ahmed is that rarest of all accused defendants,” Mr. Quijano said during his closing argument. “Ahmed is innocent.”
