The lead federal prosecutor in the Bernard Madoff investigation is joining Baker & McKenzie. The firm said yesterday that Marc Litt, a Southern District assistant U.S. attorney, will become a partner in its New York global compliance practice in January. Mr. Litt led the prosecution of Mr. Madoff, who was sentenced last year to 150 years in prison following the collapse of his massive Ponzi scheme.

Mr. Litt began his career as an associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. He became an assistant U.S. attorney in the District of Columbia in 1998 and joined the Southern District office in 2002. — Nate Raymond
