Boies, Schiller & Flexner yesterday said it had awarded associate bonuses that in some cases reached $200,000. The Armonk, N.Y.-based litigation firm awarded performance-based bonuses that on average were over $75,000, more than double the top end of the $7,500 to $35,000 market rate set by Cravath, Swaine & Moore last month. Phil Korologos, a Boies Schiller partner, said in a statement that the firm was “proud of its associates’ extensive contributions to the firm’s considerable accomplishments in what was a very busy year.”

Boies Schiller, the home of litigator David Boies, already pays more than the traditional top-tier New York firm, with entry level salaries of $174,000 compared to the standard $160,000. Other litigation-focused firms, some of whom are known for taking cases on contingency, have this year also likewise announced outsized bonuses.
