Following is an edited excerpt from the eulogy for Justice Fisher delivered by Presiding Justice A. Gail Prudenti of the Appellate Division, Second Department, on Dec. 20.

It is my great honor to speak on behalf of Justice Fisher’s court family. During his long and distinguished legal career, Steven Fisher held almost every possible position within our legal system: A Brooklyn assistant district attorney, private practitioner, law secretary to the former presiding justice, Criminal Court judge, Acting Supreme Court justice, justice of the Supreme Court, administrative judge for the courts of Queens County, and associate justice of the Appellate Division, Second Department. And he excelled at them all.
