Alcatel-Lucent’s $137 million settlement to resolve federal criminal and civil bribery charges in late December capped a record year for enforcers of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
FCPA enforcement actions catapulted from a mere five in 2004 to 74 actions last year by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to a year-end review released Monday by Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.
