Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has appointed Elizabeth Glazer, a special counsel to Mr. Cuomo when he was attorney general, as his deputy secretary for public safety. In that post, she will oversee the law enforcement and corrections agencies throughout state government. Ms. Glazer is also chair of the Juvenile Justice Advisory Group, a panel of state officials and juvenile experts that advises on policies affecting troubled young people.

Ms. Glazer was the chief of the organized crime, violent gangs and crime control strategies sections in the Southern District U.S. Attorney’s Office. She was also formerly the first deputy commissioner for New York City Department of Investigation and first deputy district attorney in Westchester County. Following her graduation from Columbia Law School, Ms. Glazer clerked for Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. — Joel Stashenko
