Gloria D. D’Amico, Queens county clerk for the past 19 years and the first woman to hold that position, died on Dec. 21 of cancer. She was 83.
Under her leadership, the operations of the Queens office were computerized; the central jury room for all civil cases was moved to the new Civil Court building when it opened in 1997; and the office became the first in the state to begin off-site microfilming of records.
