The attorney for the family of a murdered Long Island woman has been blocked from disclosing an internal affairs report obtained in discovery finding fault in the way the Nassau County Police Department protected the woman from her ex-boyfriend, a federal magistrate judge ruled last week.

Eastern District Magistrate Judge A. Kathleen Tomlinson ruled the report should be withheld from the media to prevent the disclosure of police investigative techniques and to avoid deterring civilians from reporting police misconduct.
