Andrew L. Richards has over 20 years of experience in construction law, surety law and commercial litigation as well as errors and omissions defense for architects and engineers. He represents property owners, developers, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors in all trades, architects, engineers, material suppliers, suppliers and surety companies regarding construction law for private construction and public improvement projects. Mr. Richards also drafts and negotiates construction contracts and advises clients during projects to avoid post-project litigation. His commercial litigation experience includes shareholder disputes, employment disputes, fraud claims, discrimination claims and finders’ fee claims.
Mr. Richards received his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Vassar College. He is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and before the United States District Court for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second, Third and Tenth Circuits.
Mr. Richards’ memberships include the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. Additionally, he is a member of the Association of General Contractors of the City of New York, The American Institute of Architects, Associated General Contractors of New York State, Long Island Contractors’ Association, Subcontractors Trade Association, New York City Chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), and Building Trades Employers Association. In January 2010, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Long Island Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association.
