Fresh off a withering cross-examination of Bingham McCutchen trusts and estates partner Lawrence Silverstein in the McCourt divorce case, David Boies’s next trick could be obtaining a lead role representing plaintiffs in the oil spill litigation against BP.

Reuters reports that the Boies, Schiller & Flexner founder has submitted an application for a seat on a committee overseeing multidistrict litigation against the British oil giant and other corporate defendants related to the three month oil spill stemming from an April explosion on a drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico.
