Judge Craig J. Doran (See Profile) has been appointed administrative judge for the Seventh Judicial District, Chief Administrative Judge Ann Pfau (See Profile) announced yesterday. He succeeds Judge Thomas M. VanStrydonck (See Profile), who has stepped down but will continue to serve as a Supreme Court justice.

Judge Doran, a former state assemblyman, was the supervising judge for the district’s Family Court. He was first elected as an Ontario County Court judge in 1999 and was re-elected in 2009. He is also an acting Supreme Court justice and has served as presiding judge of the Ontario County Felony Drug Treatment Court and Juvenile Drug Treatment Court. As administrative judge, he will continue to serve as a multi-bench judge in Ontario County. The eight-county Seventh Judicial District, which is in north central New York, includes the city of Rochester.
