New York City has laid claim to the exclusive rights to the name Tavern on the Green in the tri-state area under a settlement approved Thursday by a Manhattan federal bankruptcy court judge in In re: Tavern on the Green Limited Partnership and LeRoy Adventures Inc., 09-15450, 09-15448.

Tavern on the Green filed for bankruptcy in September 2009 after it lost its lease to operate in Central Park while the city squabbled with the restaurant’s former operator and general partner over the ownership of the trademark.
