Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer has been appointed clerk of Queens County. She succeeds Gloria D’Amico, who died in December after serving as county clerk for the last 19 years.

Ms. Pheffer, a Democrat, has represented the 23rd Assembly District in southern Queens for the past 24 years. Since 1995, she has been chair of the Assembly’s Consumer Affairs and Protection Committee, where she has authored many statutes to promote product safety and prevent identity theft.
