Abbe D. Lowell has returned to head Chadbourne & Parke’s white-collar defense and special litigation and investigations unit. He headed the unit from 2003 to 2007. Mr. Lowell, 59, has been in the equivalent position at the Washington, D.C., firm of McDermott Will & Emery since his departure from Chadbourne. An announcement from Chadbourne yesterday said Mr. Lowell will split his time between the Washington and New York offices.

Chadbourne & Parke’s managing partner, Andrew A. Giaccia, acknowledged that while firms sometimes are hesitant to take back partners who have left for other jobs, “In Abbe’s case, there was real enthusiasm and not a moment of hesitation when this opportunity arose.” Mr. Lowell said in a statement that he is “glad to be returning to my friends and colleagues at Chadbourne and excited about continuing my collaboration with my friend Andy Giaccia and many other Chadbourne lawyers.”
