ALBANY – Sixty-five judicial hearing officers who were among nearly 300 JHOs who lost their jobs last month due to the state courts’ cash crunch have continued to work as volunteers.

Judge Lawrence K. Marks, administrative director of the state court system, said the volunteer JHOs are serving at all levels of the courts statewide. Administrators expect the number of volunteers to rise in coming months, according to Judge Marks.
