Editor-at-large of SmartMoney and New York Times columnist James B. Stewart, left, yesterday discusses his latest book, “Tangled Webs: How False Statements Are Undermining America: From Martha Stewart to Bernie Madoff,” at the Waldorf-Astoria during an event sponsored by Willkie Farr & Gallagher. Mr. Stewart was introduced by Michael S. Schachter, right, a partner at Willkie, who prosecuted Martha Stewart for insider trading as an assistant U.S. attorney.

Mr. Stewart told the audience that attorneys have an ethical obligation not to let zealous defense of their clients cross the line into enabling perjury. Mr. Stewart is no relation to Ms. Stewart.
