Candidates interested in obtaining the Democratic Party’s nomination for three open seats in Manhattan Supreme Court must submit their applications to the party’s screening panel no later than July 11. The panel will recommend nine candidates. Those nine, along with three candidates who have received the panel’s nod twice in the past four years, will be eligible to be nominated at the convention in September.
The three candidates eligible to be considered based on their prior approvals are Civil Court Judges Ellen Gesmer, Deborah Kaplan and Salliann Scarpulla, all now acting Supreme Court justices in Manhattan.
