George D. Marlow of Poughkeepsie, a retired justice of the Appellate Division, First Department, has received the Franklin P. Gavin Award, presented by the New York State Bar Association Lawyer Assistance Committee. Mr. Marlow, who helped create the Lawyer Assistance Committee in Dutchess County, has sponsored and chaired continuing legal education programs on the impact of lawyer alcoholism, addiction and mental illness.

Robert M. Greene, a partner at Phillips Lytle in Buffalo, was honored with the Root/Stimson Award for community service by the New York State Bar Association. Since 2001, Mr. Greene has visited Haiti twice a year for medical missions. He is currently working to raise funds for a private medical clinic and rebuild a girls’ orphanage that was destroyed in the 2010 earthquake.
