ALBANY – A state appeals court has reversed the denial of eligibility for death benefits for the widow of a veteran forensic scientist who killed himself after State Police investigators inquired into his method of analyzing data.

The Appellate Division, Third Department, panel in Veeder v. New York State Police Authority, 511128, unanimously overturned the determination by the Workers’ Compensation Board that Gary L. Veeder’s suicide did not arise out of, or occur in, the course of his employment but was related to potential disciplinary action.
