The special master of the reopened 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund will hold a series of town hall meetings to explain how the fund will operate and to help people who may have been injured in the response to the 2001 terror attacks decide whether to seek compensation.
Sheila L. Birnbaum of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom has scheduled three meetings to outline rules she has proposed under the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010. The draft regulations cover “physical harm” but will not compensate for mental illness, such as post-traumatic stress disorder.
