Freshman Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) is threatening to fillibuster a vote on the bill of the deal reached yesterday to avoid a default by the federal government by raising the debt ceiling.

Just in time for the debate over the nation’s debt ceiling, Lee, the Howrey partner turned U.S. senator, has a book out urging the passage of a balanced-budget amendment to the Constitution. The Freedom Agenda argues that an amendment is a key element in rolling back the expansion of the federal government since the U.S. Supreme Court’s New Deal-era rulings.
