Wistfully the elf stared ahead… “I wish,” he thought! “What do you wish for little man?” came the voice from the shadows. “I wish to find the perfect elf’s assistant,” the little elf replied. “Just look to your right,” the voice from the shadow replied. “Gosh…it is the perfect elf’s assistant!” the small character exclaimed, and then he turned his head and looked away from the mirror.

It may be that young lawyers believe that the perfect second seat is the mirror image of the lead. It may be that more senior lawyers would agree. However, many years of trials have proven to us that a clone, even if one existed, does not make out the perfect second seat, although clairvoyance would certainly be a valuable skill for a second seat. Rather, the best team is one where each member contributes different skills and perspectives.
