An architecture professor who regularly brings his students to a landmarked Manhattan building can pursue his lawsuit to block remodeling plans for the site, a state judge has ruled.

In a suit by preservationists seeking to stop the partial demolition of the former Manufacturers Trust Company Building at 510 Fifth Ave., Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Lucy A. Billings (See Profile) held that Pratt Institute professor Eric W. Allison has standing because he “has taken distinct advantage of the landmarked site, differently from the public at large” by conducting walking tours to highlight the building’s importance as an icon of the mid-20th century International Style.
