As the new head of the powerful American Conservative Union, Al Cardenas already finds himself enmeshed in controversy.

Cardenas, a co-founder of the Tew Cardenas law firm and founder of the Cardenas Group lobbying firm, has drawn heat for banning the gay conservative organization GOProud from the powerful Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando next month. The fire was fueled by anti-gay comments by his wife, Diana, on Facebook that have been widely circulated.
