Attending the 10th annual fundraiser of South Brooklyn Legal Services on Wednesday at Superfine in Brooklyn, were, from left, Meghan Faux, director of the organization’s Foreclosure Prevention Project; J. Christopher Jensen, a partner at Cowan Liebowitz & Latman, who received an appreciation award for his role in a recent $1 million verdict; John M. Aerni, chair of South Brooklyn Legal Services and a partner at Dewey & LeBoeuf; and John C. Gray, project director at South Brooklyn Legal Services.

Mr. Jensen served as pro bono trial counsel, assisting five South Brooklyn Legal Services attorneys who represented Sandra Barkley and seven other plaintiffs in Barkley v. Olympia Mortgage Company, CV-04-0875 (NYLJ, Aug. 23, 2007). Their lawsuit alleged Brooklyn developer Yaron Hershco and his companies bought more than 150 homes over two years, made cosmetic repairs and then conspired with appraisers, mortgage lenders and attorneys to resell the houses at inflated prices.
