ALBANY – The state’s highest court yesterday upheld a college student’s conviction for the murder of his father, the confidential law clerk to a presiding Appellate Division justice, and the near-fatal attack against his mother.
The Court of Appeals said in a 6-0 unsigned ruling in People v. Porco, 162, that any errors by the trial court in letting into evidence a nod that Joan Porco made to detectives when asked if her son Christopher was the assailant in the attack against her and her husband was negated by the “overwhelming” totality of the other evidence against him.
