Michael D. Stutman, the matrimonial law partner and co-founder of Mayerson Stutman Abramowitz, has left the firm to help launch a family practice in the New York City office of London-based Mishcon de Reya. The Mayerson firm will become Mayerson, Abramowitz & Kahn. “I think it is just a wonderful opportunity to be part of the first firm to bring a premier family integrated practice onto two continents,” Mr. Stutman said. “The world is getting very small and you have families with extensive interests around the world and whether it is in my particular niche, which is generally marriage dissolutions, or another area, you need to have the resources on the ground in many places.”

Mishcon de Reya, a 74-year-old firm, said 75 percent of its business has international implications, leading it to open a New York City outpost in January 2010. The 10-person office, run by James J. McGuire, has concentrated on white-collar criminal defense and commercial litigation. “For some time now we have witnessed the increasingly international nature of our clients’ needs, and recognize the growing value of multijurisdictional expertise in wealth management,” Mr. McGuire said in a statement. “[Mr.] Stutman’s appointment, with his wealth of experience in family law, will help us accommodate these needs as we develop our cross-border practice.” Mr. Stutman said he will be joined at Mischon by Valerie Tocci, now an associate at the Mayerson firm.
