Verizon Wireless will buy 122 wireless spectrum licenses from a trio of cable companies in a $3.6 billion deal aimed at meeting consumer demand for mobile bandwidth.

The consortium of sellers, SpectrumCo, includes Comcast Corporation, Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. Comcast will receive $2.3 billion from the transaction, with Time Warner and Bright House making $1.1 billion and $189 million respectively.
