A Family Court judge has refused to confer paternity on an incarcerated man who is the undisputed father of a child conceived in an illicit relationship with a minor.

Judge Eric R. Adams in Genesee County (See Profile) found that even though the genetic connection between Phillip E.K. Jr. is clear and establishes the elements needed for an order of filiation, such an order would be contrary to the best interests of the 2-year-old-child.
