Although the U.S. Supreme Court has expressed an interest in a Manhattan attorney’s widely publicized challenge to New York City’s Rent Stabilization Law, experts in real estate law say the federal suit may not differ enough from prior cases to even be heard by the high court, or to succeed on the merits.

Harmon v. Kimmel, 11-496, was filed against New York City in 2008 by James Harmon and his wife Jeanne. Southern District Judge Barbara S. Jones (See Profile) dismissed the case in February 2010.
