TOTARAM v. CORDERO On this motion to extend a tenants time to vacate, the Court must explore the limits of its power and discretion to stay execution of a warrant of eviction in an ejectment proceeding. Seeking this relief is a 73 year old grandmother who is raising her sons three children, one of whom is wheelchair-dependent with cerebral palsy. Resisting her request are the owners of the two-family building (with an illegal basement apartment) . who are claiming economic hardship by reason of the tenants continuing possession.
