A teen beaten during a pick-up basketball game at a Long Island public park cannot hold the town liable for inadequate security, an appeals court in Brooklyn has ruled.
The decision by the Appellate Division, Second Department, overturned a lower court ruling, and found the Town of Hempstead “owed no special duty” to William Salone, who was attacked by three unidentified youths against whom he was playing at the town’s Shell Creek Park in May 2005.
