A Long Island resident who purchased 50,000 pairs of tube socks from a purveyor of “closeout” merchandise based in Florida can pursue a legal claim against the supplier in a New York court, a state judge has ruled.

The decision of Nassau County District Court Judge Michael A. Ciaffa (See Profile) in Jerez v. JD Closeouts, CV-024727-11, explored a legal issue that has become prominent with the burgeoning of e-commerce transactions—where legal disputes should be resolved.
