State Bar leaders will hold an international legal summit with Canadian attorneys as part of a five-day conference in Buffalo from March 27 to March 31. “Buffalo Bar Week,” which is spearheaded by State Bar President Vincent E. Doyle III, a native of Buffalo, will also include a task force hearing on Family Court challenges, a two-day continuing legal education video conference, a forum on how attorneys can serve nonprofit organizations and a tribute to recently retired Appellate Division Justice Samuel L. Green, the longest serving associate justice in the 115-year history of the Fourth Department.

The New York-Ontario legal summit includes programs in Toronto on March 28 and in Buffalo on March 29 as leaders from both bars discuss international law and cross-border opportunities. “From Main Street to Wall Street the practice of law is going international,” said Lauren D. Rachlin, a partner at Hodgson Russ in Buffalo and co-chair of the international law program. “The purpose of this seminar is not only to help lawyers deal with common cross-border issues that may arise in litigation, corporate or general practices but also to demonstrate how lawyers may actively seek to become involved in a cross-border legal practice.”
