Convicted racketeer and murderer Thomas Pitera has lost his bid to force DNA testing on evidence he claimed would clear him of three of the murders for which he was convicted in 1992.
Pitera, also known as Tommy Karate for his martial arts abilities, asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit to overrule Eastern District Judge Raymond Dearie (See Profile) and have DNA testing performed on six pieces of evidence under the Innocence Protection Act, 18 U.S.C. §§3600.
