A man convicted of armed robbery was not deprived of his right to representation because his counsel, the Legal Aid Society, also represented another man who was investigated but not charged in connection with the crime, a state appeals panel has ruled.

The 4-1 Appellate Division, First Department, panel in People v. Sanchez, 3438C/05, ruled on April 10 that Bronx Supreme Court Justice Denis Boyle (See Profile) had been right to deny a motion by the man, Nicholas Sanchez, to overturn his conviction based on his counsel’s alleged conflict of interest and several other factors.
