Partners at Dewey & LeDewey received an e-mail late last week asking them to preserve information “in connection with” an investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office into allegations of wrongdoing by ex-chairman Steven Davis. Partners were asked to save documents relating to guaranteed payments; partner compensation; capital or other contributions; borrowing or other forms of indebtedness; meetings of the executive committee or office of the chairman; and financial statements, according to a person familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified.
The e-mail was sent by Esther Bloustein, Dewey’s assistant general counsel who works under general counsel Janis Meyer, the Am Law Daily, an affiliate, reported. Neither returned a request for comment. The district attorney’s office also declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
