Court administrators have agreed to meet with Orange County Executive Edward Diana to discuss what Diana has characterized as “additional suggestions” and a “realistic timetable” for addressing the facilities needs of the courts. Ronald Younkins, head of operations for the Office of Court Administration, wrote to Diana on June 6 that the county was “at risk” of sanctions unless it took immediate steps to provide suitable space to replace what was lost when the County Government Center in Goshen closed in September in the wake of flooding. Diana sharply criticized what he called Younkins’ “strong-arm tactics” in a June 26 letter to Chief Administrative Judge A. Gail Prudenti.

Prudenti indicated in a July 5 letter that she would not meet with Diana. Rather, she said that Younkins would call Diana to schedule the session and act as her “designee.” She said she also has requested Eugene Myers, her chief of staff, and OCA counsel John McConnell to attend. The meeting will be at OCA’s Manhattan offices.
