Holland & Knight announced yesterday that it has hired Kenyon & Kenyon partner Charles Weiss to lead its New York intellectual property group. Weiss, who joins Holland & Knight as a partner, practiced for 16 years at Kenyon focusing on patent litigation and litigation in the pharmaceutical industry. He said he changed firms for the “opportunity to be head of the IP practice in New York for a major international law firm” as well as “the scope of the practices and resources” available at Holland & Knight. His clients at Kenyon have included K-V Pharmaceutical Co., Tris Pharma and Enzo BioChem. He declined to say whether his clients are following him.

Weiss will head a group that includes five lawyers in New York. Holland & Knight, with roots in Miami, says it has a total of 67 IP lawyers. Weiss, who graduated from Columbia Law School, is also an associate adjunct professor at Brooklyn Law School.
