Chicago Bridge & Iron, a construction and engineering company that focuses on the energy industry, has agreed to buy rival Shaw Group, in a deal valued at $3 billion.
Shaw stockholders will receive $46 in cash and stock per share, a 72 percent premium over the company’s July 27 closing price. The deal, which has been unanimously approved by both company’s boards, is expected to close in early 2013.
