Murphy & McGonigle and Krebsbach & Snyder, two financial services law boutiques, are combining. Thirty-attorney Murphy & McGonigle, which has six lawyers in New York, is acquiring Wall Street-based Krebsbach, which has eight lawyers, all in New York. The eight lawyers from Krebsbach, which was founded in 1993, are all coming on board, firm leaders said.
In addition to New York, Murphy & McGonigle has offices in Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Va. It was founded two years ago with only one attorney in New York, said chairman James Murphy. The combined firm will be called Murphy & McGonigle, and the acquisition is effective in early September. Both firms defend investment banks in litigation, arbitration and enforcement proceedings before the SEC, FINRA and state regulators.
