ALBANY – An attorney fee request has been slashed by a federal judge who found that the lawyers had a “de minimis” effect on the resolution of an educational dispute between the parent of a child with an autism-spectrum disability and a school district.

In reducing the requested fees to the Cuddy Law Firm to $46,287 from $141,700, Northern District Judge Lawrence Kahn (See Profile) also questioned whether the firm unnecessarily dragged out a proceeding before a hearing officer to secure a consent decree the firm needed to obtain a fee award.
