The New York Daily News is relying on the testimony of a judicial ethics expert to support its motion for summary judgment in a defamation case filed nearly five years ago by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Larry Martin (See Profile).

Martin sued the Daily News, former columnist Errol Louis and attorney Ravi Batra in January 2008, claiming Batra was the source of two columns and related blog postings by Louis falsely accusing Martin of improperly presiding over a case involving a lawyer who had defended the judge before the state Commission on Judicial Conduct.
