After a busy 11 years as dean of New York University School of Law, Richard Revesz will step down from that post next May, the law school announced. He will remain a tenured member of the law school faculty, as professor and dean emeritus, and faculty director of the school’s Institute for Policy Integrity. “After more than 10 years in this position, I make this announcement with mixed emotions,” he said in a letter to students, adding that he looks forward to spending more time on teaching and scholarship. “Leading this amazing community has been an enormous privilege, an experience that has been rewarding beyond measure.”

Revesz, who has a master’s degree from MIT and a law degree from Yale, joined the NYU faculty in 1985. As dean, he has raised more than $520 million; increased the size of the school’s faculty by more than 30 percent; and expanded clinics and funding for public interest law. He has launched 12 new centers on legal and public policy issues and will continue his efforts to create an interdisciplinary institute on cities and the urban environment. This month, he introduced a bolstered third-year curriculum that includes opportunities to study and work abroad and a government law clinic in Washington, D.C.
