Peter Brown, who was head of Baker & Hostetler’s information technology practice, has struck out on his own to form Peter Brown & Associates. Brown, a Baker & Hostetler partner for five years, will focus on litigation and transactional matters and offer mediation and arbitration services, he said. Brown, who now works out of the Chrysler Building, represents clients in developing, buying or selling technology.

Brown said he left Baker last month because conflicts at the 800-lawyer firm were preventing him from taking on new clients, a common issue for partners at large firms. He resigned after having to decline a case representing a large hospital in patent litigation, he said. The departure from Baker was amicable, he said.
