The clerk’s office inside the Brooklyn federal courthouse was closed yesterday after an employee opened a letter from an unidentified pro-se litigant containing a "suspicious substance" and a note containing the word "anthrax."
Officials last evening said it was not yet known who had sent the letter and to whom it was addressed. The incident took place about 4 p.m. and the clerk’s office was immediately cordoned off. The New York City Fire Department and Police Department responded to the scene. There were approximately 25 people inside the clerk’s office at the time of its closure.
