The Fund for Modern Courts held its annual awards reception on May 20 at the Bryant Park Grill, where it honored Mel Immergut, second from left, the former chair of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, with its John J. McCloy Memorial Award, which recognizes lawyers "who have made outstanding contributions to improving the administration of justice" in New York state.
The group also presented its Career Public Service Award to Helaine Barnett, second from right, the former president of the Legal Services Corporation who now chairs the Task Force to Expand Access to Civil Legal Services, commissioned by Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, at right. At left is Milton Williams Jr., chair of the Fund for Modern Courts.
