Financial disclosures in the three-way Democratic primary for Brooklyn District Attorney show that challenger Kenneth Thompson is nipping at the heels of incumbent Charles Hynes in the amount of cash on hand. The third candidate, Abraham George, is far behind, but insists he is staying in the race.

According to the Monday reports to the state Board of Elections, Hynes had a war chest of approximately $588,000 and Thompson had $502,000, which included $195,000 he has loaned to his own campaign. George reported only about $145,000.
